CHRISTIE
RAFANAN

She/Her

Hatha

What is something that would surprise me about you?
lol, i *might* be the only person in the world that doesn’t think yoga clothes are comfortable to wear outside of yoga practice.

What can I expect from your class?
Get strong af, learn your personal anatomy and learn how to be a better mover overall. oh, and if you’re realllly dedicated, learn to handstand.

What is the most essential part of practice for you?
A desire to learn.

Christie has been a lifelong athlete, however, discovering Ashtanga Yoga at the age of 21 was the catalyst that sparked her studies in movement and her path toward self-discovery. Christie has practiced yoga for 16 years and has been teaching yoga for 6 years. In that time she has lead twenty-two 200HR Yoga Teacher Trainings and created a yoga program for Motus Clinic — a physical rehab clinic in San Francisco — where she trains patients dealing with injury, recovering from surgery or just wanting to expand their movement and wellness toolbox.

Over the past 4 years, Christie has trained with some of the best strength and bodybuilding coaches at Fitness SF and Diakadi Fitness Performance in San Francisco. She also briefly trained with a Cirque Du Soleil performer, a contortionist circus performer and a very successful handstand coach in Mountain View, Ca.

The combination of these trainings have heavily influenced and shaped her straight-forward, technical and methodical approach in movement. Training with her will build your over strength, flexibility and body awareness while bringing you to a deeply grounded and peaceful mindset. Christie no longer considers herself “just a yoga teacher”, but rather a coach, movement specialist and hand-balancer.
