Nidra

What is something that would surprise me about you?
The first time I flew in an airplane was in an open cockpit, 2-seater biplane, wearing leather goggles and a leather “helmet” at an air show. The second time I flew in an airplane (at 21 years old) I came to San Francisco and saw the Pacific Ocean for the first time. It was love at first sight.

What can I expect from your class?
Yoga Nidra, or “yogic sleep”, comes from ancient traditions, yet is an extremely effective and accessible tool for our modern world. Providing us with a means to break the momentum of stress in our lives, Yoga Nidra uses simple techniques to produce a profound state of physical, mental and emotional relaxation.

Utilizing a combination of gentle body movements, breath, and awareness, Cindy guides each class into a deep meditative state, between sleep and awake, where all healing is possible. Here, we are able to experience our true, authentic nature. In the practice of Yoga Nidra, we can reconnect with our inner source of wisdom, stillness and abiding peace.

Cindy also infuses her Yoga Nidra classes with Sound Healing, using Ancient Himalayan Singing Bowls, Quartz Crystal Singing Bowls, Planetary Chimes and Gongs, and other sound healing instruments to enhance and deepen the meditative state.

What is the most essential part of practice for you?
Being present, in this moment, as it is.

Cindy is a Certified Advanced Level Amrit Method Yoga Nidra Facilitator, offering group and individual classes since 2006. Her main teacher is Kamini Desai, and recently she has deepened her studies of yoga nidra and pranayama with Indu Arora, and Tibetan meditation, dream and sleep yoga with Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche.

Cindy has had the great honor of practicing and studying meditation in a wide range of styles since 1988, beginning when she sustained a back injury while in college studying dance. Although doctors told her that she might not ever be able to dance again, through meditation and bodywork she found complete healing and went on to dance professionally.

Sound Healing has been woven into Cindy’s bodywork and personal practice since 2004, beginning with the Himalayan Singing Bowls. The study of Acutonics® has expanded the role of sound healing in her work exponentially, utilizing the healing frequencies of the planets and the wisdom of astrology to connect with the life energies in the body for balance and healing.

Cindy offers private, semi-private and group Yoga Nidra classes, in addition to Professional Bodywork, Energy Work and Sound Healing. www.harmony-bodyworkenergy.com
