HAUM 200HR TT:
FALL 2023

Yoga is a lifelong practice that connects what you experience on and off the mat, touching all the dimensions of who you are and how you show up in the world. When we move and breathe with awareness, aligning our actions with intention, we bear witness to our own personal transformation. When we teach and hold space for others, we share our love of this practice in a way that serves our students and community.

THE PROGRAM

This Yoga Alliance certified 200-hour training is designed to provide you with the groundwork, knowledge and skills to begin teaching yoga. Our mission is to create an immersive experience of learning and self-inquiry that encourages you to show up confidently in your life with purpose and meaning.

The comprehensive curriculum will cover anatomy, asana, functional alignment, yoga history and philosophy, pranayama, meditation, intelligent vinyasa sequencing, hands-on assisting, teaching methodology, ethics and the business of yoga.

Our program is both teacher training and life training. You will learn how to navigate the totality of your human experience – physical, mental and emotional – with skillful awareness and curiosity. In getting to know yourself better, you will develop authentic ways to share the teachings of yoga with others.

THE HAUM APPROACH

Yoga is the unity and integration of all the parts into the whole. Nothing in yoga – or life – exists in a silo and we believe in an integrated, experience-driven approach to learning.

Our training is structured around 4 thematic modules where we explore the holistic relationship between asana, biomechanics, pranayama, meditation, sequencing and the real-life application of yoga philosophy.

MODULE #1
Foundation

Lay the groundwork for effective learning and teaching. In the first module, we will explore the physical and subtle body systems, which help us understand the relationship between individual parts and the whole.

Topics covered: Basics of anatomy & biomechanics, science of breath, standing postures, sun salutations, history of yoga, Koshas, Yoga Sutras

MODULE #2
Alchemy

Embrace change as the engine for growth. Through the intentional application of yogic techniques, principles and inquiry, we will support the ongoing process of self-transformation – body, mind and spirit.

Topics covered: Vinyasa krama, sequencing principles, pranayama techniques, twisting & core postures, Chakras, Yamas & Niyamas

MODULE #3
Expression

Meaningful teaching arises from direct experience and a sense of purpose. We will cultivate thoughtful methods of communication, discovering the most authentic expression of who we are and how we share.

Topics covered: Back-bending & arm-balancing postures, sequencing & theming, assisting & verbal cueing, mantra, Vayus, Bhagavad Gita

MODULE #4
Integration

Yoga is both an inward and outward journey. In the final module, we will delve into introspective practices as we come home to inner wholeness and recognize our connection to everything.

Topics covered: Meditation, seated & forward bend postures, restorative, yoga nidra, pregnancy, ethics & business of yoga

Over the course of 12 weekends, both online and in-person, we will deep dive into the modules through active practices, lectures, discussions, interactive group work and practice teaching. Each module is 3 weeks long and begins with a weekend intensive.

Choosing to complete my 200HR YTT with Yvonne and Danni was without a doubt one of the greatest gifts I have given myself. It delivered all of the elements I had expected in spades — deep dives into neuroanatomy and sequencing, major aha! moments in our physical bodies as we learned and received physical adjustments, and a solid introduction to yoga philosophy, with an emphasis on how to translate the guiding principles off the mat and into our lives. What I didn’t fully anticipate was the opportunities it would provide for deep reflection, vulnerability, and sharing among fellow students– a space where you could show up just as you are and truly be seen and supported.

TEACHING FACULTY

Our teaching faculty offers the best of the best: highly-skilled educators dedicated to living their yoga and generously sharing their knowledge and expertise. Each instructor brings with them thousands of hours of training and teaching. You will be guided through the program with clarity, confidence and ease.

Taking the 200HR YTT with Yvonne and Danni changed my life. There is so much I want to name about the richness of the curriculum, the masterful facilitation, the perfect pairing of Yvonne and Danni’s teaching dynamics, and the future teaching opportunities this foundational training prepared me for. One of the most unexpected gifts of training was our sangha, which came together in those 3 months. We learned to support each other and cheer for each other. We learned how to refine our hearts. I learned to say “I belong” and to harness all of that belonging to say “we belong”. I met two of my best friends. If you are in the middle of deciding whether to go for it, just say yes.

FAQ

Are there prerequisites for this training?

Although we recommend 1 year of consistent yoga practice, the most important requirements are (1) your willingness to show up and learn, (2) your dedication to self-inquiry and doing the work, (3) openness and curiosity.

Can I take this training if I’m not interested in teaching?

Definitely! Many students choose to do the teacher training with the goal of deepening their study of yoga. Whether you decide to teach or not, you will learn skills, meet amazing people and walk away with experiences that serve areas of your life beyond the mat.

What style of yoga is the HAUM Teacher Training?

Our training combines hatha and vinyasa principles. With our integrated approach to smart alignment, intelligent sequencing and clear instruction, you will be equipped to teach to a wide range of abilities, safely and skillfully.

How much of the training is online versus in-studio?

The four weekend immersions will be held in-studio. All other Saturday and Sunday sessions will also be held in-studio. Thursday and Friday sessions will be held online via Zoom.

What are the HAUM Teacher Training graduation requirements?

Attendance of in-person and online training sessions.

Completion of homework, reading assignments, observations and faculty class requirements.

Participation in a final teaching practicum.

What is the make-up and attendance policy?

Yoga Alliance requires that you complete all 200 hours of training in order to register at the RYT 200 hour level. If you miss any hours of training, you will be assigned make-up work and/or be required to attend a live make-up group session (to be scheduled) at your expense.

To receive credit for attendance, you must arrive on time and stay for the full duration of the session. If you need to arrive late or leave early, please notify your teacher in advance. You will have two 15-minute grace periods over the course of the training. After that, you will be required to make up that session according to the make-up policy.

What is the cancellation and refund policy?

The tuition is non-refundable. However, we understand that unexpected life circumstances arise and if you notify us prior to the start of the training, we will allow you to postpone your participation to the next 200-hour training.
